Dr. Les Stahlke

My birth was boring but the seventy plus years since then have been anything but…

Today I travel the world assisting Boards of Directors to make the change from managing to governing. You wouldn’t believe the stuff I see and hear…
Or maybe you see and hear it too –in your own boardroom. Maybe that’s why you’re here, looking for some answers.

I’ve worked with over 200 boards and about 300 CEOs since I started global consulting in 1999. I think I’ve heard just about everything once…

Who’s in charge?
What can we do about our power hungry chair or CEO?
Why can’t they get off my back?
What’s the plan anyway?
I’m wasting my time trying to change things.
I’ve got lots of responsibility but no authority.

35 years of being a CEO myself in Canada, the U.S. the UK, and six countries in Africa was a good preparation for what I’m doing now.

You know what all these organizations have in common?

Relationships. Good ones, bad ones, fun ones and sad ones, dead ones and dynamic ones.

Being a bush pilot, a pastor, a fundraiser, board member, husband, father, and grandpa has helped me a lot to learn, often from my own mistakes. Now I figure it’s time to download my brain. I want to share my experience and the few morsels of wisdom I’ve picked up along the way. It’s mostly about governance, leadership and management, but you’ll learn something about all your relationships.

Here you’ll find answers to your questions and some practical helps to get things moving again.

Buckle up. We’re taking off on a ride you’ll remember.

Dean Eisner

Question: are you presenting any local seminars or workshops in the Edmonton or central AB area in the next few months?

Les Stahlke

Dean, thanks for your interest in a seminar on the Relationship Model of governance in the Edmonton area. I have no plans for a general workshop, but I do respond to requests from boards or from any group of interested individuals. A 2-3 hour seminar for a board or for any five interested people would cost $250, if the space would be made available by the board or one of the five participants. Let me know if you would like to plan a seminar. Les Stahlke
